Generally, governments don't change things unless people complain.

It's time to complain! You can do it in about one minute!

Please take a moment to email your MLA and ask for changes to our wine laws and wine taxation policies.

STEP 1:

You can copy and paste this basic text into an email if you want.

Dear YOUR MLA's NAME,

I support efforts to reform BC's outdated wine laws and wine taxation policies. I urge the government to do the following:

1. Reform BC's Taxes on Wine to Make Them Fair: 135% Tax on Wine is Way Too Much! Please switch to a Flat Tax like in Alberta where it's about $2.60 per bottle.

2. Create a Level Playing Field for BC's Wine Retailers: there are too many retail licences with too many different rules.

3. Create Fair Rules for BC's Restaurants: give them a wholesale discount and let them buy from wherever they want.

4. Create Fair Import/Export Rules: it's currently illegal to buy wine in one province and take it to another, this is ridiculous ... BC should be setting the standard with reasonable import/export rules.

Sincerely,

ADD YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS

STEP 2:

Click to find out who your MLA is and to get their email address. (will open in a new window)

STEP 3:

Click on the link on your MLA's page to send them an e-mail. Your email program should open with a blank email addressed to your MLA.

Paste the text into the email. Edit to add your MLA's name and your name and address.

It also really helps if you personalize your comments so that your MLA is not receiving many copies of exactly the same email!

Don't forget to include your name and address!

Then send it.

STEP 4:

Thanks ... now wait to see what happens!
